Iron Horse Terminals - Construction Begins at Beaumont Rail Facility

Beaumont, TX, August 08, 2018 -- Iron Horse Terminals, LLC. broke ground on the first phase of its Beaumont Terminal on Tuesday May, 29th 2018. This unit train capable facility will offer rail car storage, repair, cleaning and transload services to Southeast Texas. The facility will initially provide the region an additional 1,200 rail car storage spaces, with future phases increasing the facility to 3,000 cars. The facility will begin operations in December of 2018, with additional capacity being constructed through the second quarter of 2019. By 1Q19 the terminal will have over 100,000 track feet, 24 stub-ended storage tracks, a 12-car rail maintenance facility, a rail car washing facility and a transload facility. The facility will be capable of simultaneously landing multiple Unit Trains.

The facility lies strategically between the UP’s Beaumont Subdivision on the north, and the UP/BNSF Houston Subdivision on the south, adjacent to the UP Amelia Yard.

Iron Horse Terminals has entered into long-term contracts for storage of polyethylene rail cars for a portion of the facilities capacity. Under the agreement, Iron Horse Terminals will provide: switching services for cars; onsite storage; repair; and transload facilities.

An aggregate loop will also be constructed to serve local demand for aggregates, asphalt and cement. IHT is in negotiation with suppliers active in the region.

Rail car storage spaces will be available for short and long-term lease, in addition to maintenance, car washing and transloading services. The 405-acre facility 8 miles west of Beaumont has additional acreage available for built-to-suit rail served warehouses, and petrochemical plants.
